A former resident alien of Greece, the author currently resides on the rock-bound Mendocino coast. He composed most of these poems while he and his girlfriend, also a poet, were sharing a defunct monastery with goats, sheep, ducks, chickens and the saddest dog in the world on the island of Chios in the eastern Aegean.
